Summer Concert Series Returns to Masons Mill Park

Upper Moreland Parks and Recreation has six acts lined up through its 2013 weekly summer concert series.

The Upper Moreland Township Parks and Recreation is getting ready for its annual Summer Concert Series at Masons Mill Park, located at 3500 Masons Mill Road in Huntingdon Valley.

Each concert begins at 6:30 p.m., weather permitting, and will take place at the Gazebo in Masons Mill Park. 

Car-pooling to the park is recommended, as well as lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

According to the F.L.A.S.H. Upper Moreland Township Parks and Recreation  Spring/Summer newsletter, the 2013 concert lineup goes as follows:

  • June 23: Philly Rock and Soul
"This great 8-piece Motown/Oldies band will get you moving to the great songs of the 60's, 70's and 80's! Get ready to dance the night away!"
  • June 30:  Zydeco-A-Go-Go

"'Let The Goo Times Roll!' with the are's premier Zydeco band. Creole Zydeco and Cajun 2-steps combine with funky New Orleans Rhythm and Blues and vintage Lousisiana Rock and Roll in to a spicy gumbo irresistible music."

  • July 7:  The John Clark Big Band

"Featuring the fabulous vocal talent of Paula John, they recreate the swinging sounds of the Big Band era, performing clasic songs made famous by artists such as Glenn Miller, Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, and Count Basie."

  • July 14:  The Norristones

"A dose of doo-wop! Remember those great street corner groups and harmonies? Then you'll love The Norristones! Superb harmonies and great songs make for a great evening of music."

  • July 21:  Barbone Street Jazz Band
"This superb band plays Jazz, Dixieland and Swing in a bright, colorful, original and playful style. This is good-time happy misuc! Get up and Groove!"
  • July 28:  The Large Flowerheads

"The sights and sounds of the 60's are enthusiastically brought to life by this great band. Come sing, dance and listen to the music that made you feel so good!"

  • August 4:  Point Blank Band

"Returning this summer is one of your favorites! This spectacular 5-piece group features the lead vocals of Patty Powers. You'll be swept away with many of your favorite tunes from the 50's through today"

Smoking and alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the park. In case of rain, concerts may be cancelled. According to the newsletter, make-up dates for cancelled concerts are Aug. 11 and 18.
