'Wee Summer Program' Registration Now Open

Formerly known as 'Family Little Bear Camp,' the Upper Moreland Wee Summer Program offers week-long educational youth activities.

The Upper Moreland Parks and Recreation Department is taking registration for its new Wee Summer Program.

The program is designed for youth ages 3 to 6 years old, and provides pre-school enrichment activities. The activities are facilitated by certified teachers and activity specialists, and will feature science, reading, sports, as well as the summer-camp staple of arts and crafts.

According to the department’s recreation coordinator Katie Kollar, the Wee Summer Program offers more parent-friendly arrangements than its former version called Family Little Bear Camp.

“We felt that there was a growing need for a weeklong program,” Kollar said. “In terms of dual-income families, we wanted something more stale for them.”

Kollar explained that the Little Bear Camp was not a full-week summer program, and was weather dependent.
