No Philadelphia Eagles Camp at Lehigh University

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Friday that they will no longer hold training camp at Lehigh University.

The Philadelphia Eagles are flying the Lehigh Valley coop. After 17 years, training camp will no longer be held at Lehigh University, the team announced on its website Friday. "There are so many people at Lehigh University who went above and beyond to accommodate us and to make Training Camp a special place for fans to travel each summer to get an up-close look at the team," Team President Don Smolenski said. "The city of Bethlehem has been part of our lives every summer for the past 17 years," Smolenski added. Upper Moreland Sets the Bar High in History-Making Season

The Golden Bears varsity basketball team earned the school its first ever district title this season.

Brian Corrado has been part of the Upper Moreland boys basketball team for the last 18 years. He’s served as head coach for the last 15 years, but the 2012-13 season marked a first for the basketball program. The Golden Bears celebrated their first-ever District title this past season, and it was the first time UM had the opportunity to even play in the championship game. The win helped get Corrado’s squad to the state tournament for only the second time in his tenure. “One other year in my time here did we make the state tournament” Corrado said. “That was back in ‘06, when they took four teams in District 1 from AAA and we were the third seed … We set some lofty goals and it was very nice to fulfill that and win a district title." Upper Moreland Hockey Team Makes History in Flyers Cup

The Golden Bears will play in the quarterfinals of the Flyers Cup tonight at 6:30 p.m. against West Chester East.

The Upper Moreland club hockey team made history over the weekend. The Golden Bears won their first ever Flyers Cup game in dramatic fashion when Kyle Landis netted the game-winning goal in double overtime against Garnett Valley in a 3-2 win. It was the opening game of the tournament for 8-seed Upper Moreland, who will now face top-seeded West Chester East in the quarterfinal round on Monday night at Iceline in West Chester. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m. Upper Moreland qualified for the Flyers Cup for the first time last season, but lost in the opening round. Upper Moreland Congratulates Boys Basketball Team's District Title

Upper Moreland posted a congratulatory message on its electric sign at the front of the high school.

The Upper Moreland boys varsity basketball team captured the school's first ever district title last weekend. It defeated Pope John Paul II, 57-49, Saturday night on the big stage at the University of Villanova. The Golden Bears will advance to the state tournament where it will take on 4th-seeded Susquehanna Township High School in the District 3 bracket. Upper Moreland Wins First Basketball District Title in School History

The Upper Moreland Golden Bears boys basketball team clinched first district championship over Pope John Paul II 57-49. The team will now advance to state competition.

The Upper Moreland Golden Bears on Saturday proved to many that a small suburban school can compete and win on the big stage. With the lights shining brightly on the biggest stage, the Golden Bears came through with a win over Pope John Paul II to capture the school's first ever district championship. The Bears cruised to a 57-49 win over Pope John Paul II and will now advance to the first round of the state tournament on Friday at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. They will square off against 4th-seeded Susquehanna Township High School in the District 3 bracket. Upper Moreland Makes History with Shot at Basketball District Title

The Upper Moreland boys basketball team will play Pope John Paul II Saturday night for a chance to win the district title.

Led by senior Matt Kohn, the Upper Moreland boys varsity basketball team made history by earning a spot in the PIAA District 1 Class AAA after a thrilling win over Octorara on Wednesday night. Kohn scored 28 points and now the boys from UM will travel to the Pavilion at Villanova University Saturday night for a showdown with third-seeded Pope John Paul II at 8 p.m. with the district title on the line. Fourth-seeded Upper Moreland has won three of its last four games averaging just over 68 points per game. Its defense has been better allowing an average of 56 points per game in that span. “It’s a great feeling,” Kohn said in an interview after the game. “I think we have the upper edge (in the final) because we are playing really good …

UM can wrap up the series with a win tonight. - - - Originally story: Two years ago the Upper Moreland Club Hockey team didn’t win a single league game. It was a young group that was still learning a system and the players needed to get its skating legs under them. Under the tutelage of head coach Jim Stampler, last year the team made tremendous strides and was able to win the Suburban High School Hockey League and earn the team its first ever trip to the Flyers Cup, which pits Pennsylvania league winners against each other in a statewide tournament. Willow Grove Bears Holding Registration for Football, Cheerleading

Kids ages 5-15 can register to play football or participate in cheerleading at the UM Little League Complex.

Are you ready for some football? The Willow Grove Bears have confirmed four registration dates and times for interested players AND cheerleaders. Parents whose sons and daughters want to play and participate can register on the following dates at the Upper Moreland Little League Complex at Fairhill Street: Online registration will be available beginning March 1. A Bears representative told Patch they wll be adding more dates to register in April and May, but those have not been confirmed yet. Willow Grove Bears provides an opportunity to play football and participate in cheerleading for kids ages 5-15.
