Tax Increases for Upper Moreland Residents on Preliminary Budget

The Special Action Meeting was held Tuesday night in the Teaching/Learning Center in the Intermediate School.

The Upper Moreland Budget and Finance Committee held a Special Action meeting Tuesday to adopt the preliminary budget that would see an increase in real estate taxes for 2013-14. The 2013-14 Budget is in the amount of $57,160,250 representing a real estate rate of 27.38 mills, and 1/2 of 1 percent earned income and net profits tax on all residents earning at least $4,000 per year. For a home assessed by the county at a value of $127,250, homeowners would see an increase of $77.29 on their tax bill. The Millage increase represents a 2.27 percent increase from the previous year. And the Budget Expense will see an 3.37 percent increase. The Earned Income and Net Profits Tax will be adopted on all residents and inhabitants earning at least $4,…

UMSB Budget and Finance Meeting tonight

The Upper Moreland School Board's Budget and Finance Committee meeting will be held tonight at the Intermediate School at 6:45 p.m. As a reminder, due to the Pennsylvania State primary elections on April 24, the regular board meeting scheduled for next week has been moved to April 25 at 7 p.m. in the Intermediate School. School District Considers Two More Advertisement Concepts

The Upper Moreland school board discussed advertising concepts that may include using its website and lockers - Also, Patch Poll: Should the school district consider in-school advertising?

Upper Moreland School District business manager Michael Braun presented the March 20 Budget and Finance Committee with a couple of novel concepts that may help bring in revenue to the district. “We took an opportunity with the bus advertising,” Braun said. “I’m trying to take it to the next level.” After the school board’s recent approval to allow a Leigh County company to provide restricted advertising on its busses, Braun presented two more alternative advertising options.   Website Advertising The first concept deals with providing advertising space on the district’s website. Memorial Trees Considered for Upper Moreland High School Students

The Aug. 16 Budget and Finance Committee considered the planting of memorial trees for Class of 2011 student Dayna Irwin and Class of 1961 student Capt. William Ahlum.

The Aug. 16 Budget and Finance Committee of the Upper Moreland School Board reviewed two letters of request to approve the planting of memorial trees of district students who have passed away. A Memorial Tree for Dayna Irwin The first letter was sent to the district’s business manager Michael Braun by Upper Moreland High School principal Joy Perisho, who wrote on behalf of members of the Class of 2011. According to the letter, the class requests permission from the board to plant a dogwood tree, which they would purchase themselves, in the memory of class member Dayna Irwin, who passed away in 2009. Past news reports state she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2007 at the age of 14. Braun told the board that a memorial …
