Returning To Winter Late This Week

January's shaping up as a volatile month in the weather realm. Temperature roller coasters, soaking rains, and more seem to be the theme of the coming month's weather.

There's quite a lot in the weather realm that's being made of the potential for a pattern flip later on this week. In some respects, the pattern this winter changed about two weeks ago from a generally mild pattern to one with wild oscillations of warmth and chill. November in December, which was how the weather felt for much of the month, was replaced by alternating shots of cold and warmth - a theme that's continued into early January. We went from the freezer on Tuesday and Wednesday to people wearing shorts this past Saturday as temperatures jumped into the middle 60s. The return of Snowmageddon

Patch photographer Kevin Cook braved the elements during the winter's first snow fall to capture images around town - It was far from being a winter wonderland.

Fierce winds icely smacked faces of those unfortunate enough to be outside during the winter's first snowfall, Dec. 26. But, the blizzard-like conditions and nearly a foot of snow couldn't stop Patch photographer Kevin Cook's curiousity of how his neighbors were handling the snowfall. The following photo gallery showcases Kevin's trek through Upper Moreland and Willow Grove that day.
