Loftus Construction Co., the general contractor working on the Turnpike's mainline bridge that crosses Rt. 611, will continue to periodically reduce traffic to a single-lane in either direction Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am-3pm until the end of the month. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises that Easton Road (State Route 611) will be closed to traffic and detoured in both directions between Fitzwatertown Road and West Mill Road in Upper Moreland Township Saturday, November 3rd from 11:00pm until 5:00am Sunday, November 4th. The detour is required to allow Loftus Construction to safely erect bridge beams on the Turnpike mainline bridge located approximately one-half mile south of the rams to the Willow Grove Interchange. …

Roadway Resurfacing on Pa. Turnpike’s Interstate 276 begins this Month Nighttime paving, reduced speeds may cause delays between Exits 343-351 until 2013. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists using Interstate 276 between Willow Grove (Exit #343) and Delaware Valley (Exit #358) to be prepared for overnight lane closures with reduced speeds of 40 miles per hour starting later this month. Overnight repaving work will be performed weeknights during off-peak hours until the project is completed in spring 2013. The Turnpike Commission determined it was necessary for customer safety to resurface this section of I-276 and awarded the $12 million project to Glasgow Inc., Glenside, Pa. in Dec. 2011. According to a Ward 6 newsletter, the Upper Moreland-Hatboro Joint Sewer Authority (UMHJSA) was recently awarded a contract for Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) repairs for the sewer main on Davisville Road, between Terwood Road and Their Davisville Road Pump Station. This is approximately 1,270 linear feet. The UMHJSA has received approvals for night work from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. This will occur over two or three consecutive nights, prefaced by one night for pre-cleaning and televising the runs approximately one week prior to the start of work. The new main will increase service reliability and improve firefighting capabilities in the area. Aqua will have an inspector on the job each day to answer any questions you might have. The $921,500 project is scheduled to begin on Feb. 29 and will involve the installation of 6,200 feet of 8-inch ductile iron main. The new main will replace the existing 6-inch cast iron main. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is advising motorists that construction work on the Turnpike mainline bridge that crosses over Jolly Road in Whitpain Township will continue Monday morning July 11. Walsh Construction, the contractor on the Turnpike's total reconstruction and widening project on the Northeastern Extension, will continue excavation and demolition activities at the Jolly Road underpass from Monday through Friday (July 11 to 15) from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No traffic restrictions will be implemented during the daytime work but motorists should stay alert when traveling near the work area. Limekiln Pike will be closed and detoured for six months starting Tuesday, July 5 between Route 309 (Ogontz Avenue) and Cheltenham Avenue for the rehabilitation of the structurally deficient bridge over Rock Creek in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today. Limekiln Pike through traffic will be detoured over Route 309 (Ogontz Avenue), Easton Road, and Cheltenham Avenue. Local access will be maintained on Limekiln Pike up to the construction area. For the Patch and Aol Give 5 Day, eight Patchers from Montgomery County volunteered and cleaned up nearly a ton of trash from the Cross County Trail.
What does it say about us as a people in this ecosystem when nearly a ton of trash is collected from either side of a two-mile trail? It says there’s a whole hell of a lot more to go. For the volunteer Give 5 program of Patch and Aol, seven local editors of Patch sites of Eastern Pennsylvania One-Regional One spent seven hours Thursday discarding trash from the Cross County Trail. In the end, we collected 34 bags of trash, each weighing about 50 pounds. That is 1,700 pounds—more than three-quarters of a ton—of trash. In seven hours.
