Police Log: Dog Bites, DUI and Criminal Mischief at Philmont

The following was reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

July 20 – DUI Richard Ziegler Jr., 58, of Philadelphia, has criminal charges pending after police found him asleep at the wheel in Just-a-Farms. The key was in the on position and his headlights were illuminated when police found him. Ziegler had very slurred speech and appeared confused when cops woke him up. He was removed from the car and was unsteady on his feet. He admitted to drinking at least three beers at a bar earlier in the night, and said he pulled over because he saw his engine oil light flash. He registered a .21% BAC and failed field sobriety tests according to the report. Don’t Drink and Drive, Please!

One motorist’s start of the Memorial Day Weekend has left me stranded.

It seems like it happens with every long, holiday weekend. Folks tend to let loose, have a few drinks more than they should and get behind the wheel of a car. Impaired driving, distracted driving, reckless driving, they all run the risk of seriously injuring someone and damaging their property, leaving the innocent parties asking the question, “why?” Case in point: I live on a quiet little street in the Burholme section of Northeast Philadelphia. It’s a single-lane, two-way street, with cars parked on both sides. The traveling lane is so small that motorists have to pull over into a free parking space in order to yield to oncoming traffic. With such tight parking and living spaces, I feel fortunate to have such friendly and welcoming …

DUI Sloane Miller of Willow Grove was arrested on May 2for Driving under the Influence of Alcohol.    Assault Shawn Moyer of Willow Grove was arrested on May 4 for Simple Assault. Mariusz Plewa, of Philadelphia, PA, was arrested for Simple Assault, Harassment, Reckless Endangering Another Person, and Theft by Unlawful Taking on April 25.   Harassment Andrew McNeishie, of Upper Darby, PA, was arrested for Harassment, Stalking, and Terroristic Threats on April 29.
