It's pretty safe to say that winter and I don't get along very well. In fact, my friends and I like to joke that I'm going to get into a pretty heated physical fight with Old Man Winter one of these days. Hate is an emotion I try to avoid, but my feelings toward this wretched time of year come pretty close. When sunshine becomes scarce, and flurries begin to fall, I'm almost inconsolable. "Not now," I think. "I'm not ready yet - It's too early for winter, even if it is Jan. 5!" You'd think that I'd be used to this by now as a lifelong native of this area. Patch photographer Kevin Cook braved the elements during the winter's first snow fall to capture images around town - It was far from being a winter wonderland.
Fierce winds icely smacked faces of those unfortunate enough to be outside during the winter's first snowfall, Dec. 26. But, the blizzard-like conditions and nearly a foot of snow couldn't stop Patch photographer Kevin Cook's curiousity of how his neighbors were handling the snowfall.
