Upper Moreland Holding 4th Annual 5K Run

Come out and support a great cause on Sunday, Oct. 21 at Upper Moreland Middle School.

The Upper Moreland Education Foundation will hold their 4th annual 5K Run/1.5 mile Walk at 9 a.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Upper Moreland Middle School, 4000 Orangemans Road. The event, which benefits the Upper Moreland Community, enables the foundation to provide enhanced learning opportunities through creative and innovative educational programs.  The 5K Run will begin at 9 a.m. Registration is available through the UMEF website's www.umef.org or 8:00 AM the day of the event.  Contact Nora Rosenbaum at 215-830-1587 or 5Krunwalk@umtsd.org for more information.

Upper Moreland Education Foundation Seeks Board of Directors

Openings are available to serve on the Board of Directors.

The Upper Moreland Education Foundation is seeking interested parties to serve on its board of directors. The foundation enjoys a close working relationship with Upper Moreland schools and has funded programs with an array of other community institutions including the fire company, the public library and private and parochial schools. The time commitment necessary to serve on the boards is not substantial and only requires attendance at a monthly meeting as well as annual and semi-annual fundraising activities. Upper Moreland Students Go Extra Mile with ‘Walk to Get Smart’

Upper Moreland School district students participated in a UMEF fundraising campaign to purchase interactive white boards and other technology.

The Upper Moreland Education Foundation (UMEF) fundraising letters went out during the second week of April.  These letters, which asked for a donation from the recipient, unveiled a new UMEF fundraising event, called “Walk to Get Smart”: The goal of this fundraiser is to purchase “Smart Board” Interactive White Boards and technology devices for every student in every classroom in the Upper Moreland Township School District. When the letters returned late this month, the response was overwhelming. “It was unbelievable,” Dan Noble, UMEF president, said. “We got a huge response from the community.” While Noble said the final tally has not been completed yet, the response in donations has well exceeded the UMEF original goal of $30,000. …

UMEF 5K Run/1.5-Mile Walk Helps to Put Students on the Right Path

Funds raised at the Oct. 16 event will help in the UMEF goal of providing technology-based education for all Upper Moreland Township students.

As the newly elected president of the Upper Moreland Education Foundation (UMEF), Dan Noble could see his administration as something like a race. In recent years, the UMEF has concentrated its efforts toward promoting technology-based education for the various Upper Moreland educational institutions or programs that the nonprofit serves. Noble noted that the UMEF helped the Upper Moreland School District procure technology-based educational tools, such as scanner wands for the high school library, where students can save money at the copy machine by digitally scanning documents.
