Willow Grove Chamber Honors Linder Opticians

The Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce recognized Linder Opticians for its 100 years in business.

Linder Opticians was honored at the annual Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce luncheon for reaching its centennial year of business. “How many people know a business that’s been in the same family for 100 years?” John DiMarzio, Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce president, asked. “It doesn’t happen very often.” The family-owned business also celebrates its 51st year in Willow Grove, located at 321 Easton Road. Accepting the chamber recognition was Marilyn Linder, whose grandfather opened the business’ first store in Philadelphia. As previously reported in Patch, Linder’s brother also runs a Linder Opticians store in Spring House. Township Developments Presented at Willow Grove Chamber Luncheon

The annual Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce’s luncheon featured Upper Moreland commissioner Joseph Lavalle, who reviewed a year in township development.

Development throughout Upper Moreland was the focus of the annual Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce luncheon, which took place April 17, at the Huntingdon Valley Country Club. “The reason for this event today is to give the community an awareness of what’s going on in Willow Grove, particularly the downtown area,” John DiMarzio, Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce president, said at the event. DiMarzio addressed members of the township’s business community and leaders, developers, members of the Upper Moreland School Board, as well as representatives of township government; including commissioners and those in the Revitalization Task Force. Wawa Proposal to Highlight Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce Meeting

The highly debated topic of the Wawa construction and other developments in the community will be discussed at the Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Community Development Committee Chairman Joseph A. Lavalle will be the featured speaker at the open board meeting of the Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce. The public is invited to attend the meeting to learn what is happening in the community, in development and other activities. Lavalle chairs the Upper Moreland Township’s Community Development committee. He will update the audience with the latest details on community decelopment. The Board of Directors will also conduct its regular business at the meeting. Chamber: We Support Wawa Construction

The Chamber of Commerce conducted a meeting regarding the new Wawa in the township.

The following message is from the Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce: Following the discussion on the proposed Willow Grove Wawa at the annual meeting of the Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber’s Board of Directors met and voted to support the project. Before the vote, each member expressed an opinion and the reasons behind it. Many felt that although the project was not perfect, it would be an asset to the community and would meet many of the aims of redevelopment. The vote carried by 14-1.  At the, November 7 meeting, developer Bruce Goodman explained plans for the project. He showed illustrations of the alterations that were made to more closely conform to the Upper Moreland and Montgomery County redevelopment plans for the area…

Wawa Proposal to Highlight Rescheduled Chamber Meeting

The meeting is rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 13 after being pushed back because of Hurricane Sandy.

A discussion on the proposed Willow Grove WaWa will highlight the annual meeting of the Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce,  which has been rescheduled to Wednesday, November 13. Developer Bruce Goodman and Commissioner Joe Lavalle, who chairs the township’s Community Development committee will answer questions about the proposal. Chamber of Commerce Postponing Annual Meeting

Chamber of Commerce Hosting Fall Party to Celebrate Willow Grove

The first annual Fall Party will take place on Oct. 21 at Veteran's Memorial Park.

The First Annual Fall Party celebrating Willow Grove will be a fun-filled event for the whole community. On October 21, Veteran’s Memorial Park, at Easton and York Roads, will become a party land for adults and children as the neighbors gather to enjoy the pleasures of the living and working in this vibrant area. The party will be from 1 to 5 p.m. and will feature food, giveaways, live music, games and entertainment for all. A few tables are still available, as are sponsorship opportunities. Willow Grove Chamber Wants Redevelopment Focus

The Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce presented a resolution that would make redevelopment and revitalization a ‘top priority.’

At the July 9 Upper Moreland Community Development Committee meeting, John DiMarzio, president of the Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce, presented a resolution he hoped would be adopted by the full board of commissioners. His presentation took place during the Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce’s Redevelopment Report, an ongoing item on the committee’s agenda. Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce Explores Revitalization

Montgomery County senior planner Michael Narchowich addressed the May 29 Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce General Meeting.

Over 60 people attended the annual general meeting of the Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce in order to hear plans that will directly affect the Upper Moreland area business community. The meeting took place in the Willow Grove VFW, May 29, from noon to 1:30 p.m. In its attendance was a diverse cross section of Upper Moreland township stakeholders, which included members of the chamber of commerce, as well as several individuals who possess direct influence on the township’s redevelopment and revitalization.
