According to the “about” section of the Facebook community’s page, Old Images of Montgomery County PA’s purpose is simply to share user-uploaded or forwarded old and vintage images of the county. Many of the images on the site are of historic photos juxtaposed to compare as a “then-and-now” image, with no shortage of proceeding nostalgic commentary. Apple Store Opens in Willow Grove Mall

The grand opening was on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The Apple Store in Willow Grove Park had its grand opening over the weekend and handed out T-shirts to the first 1,000 customers. Yogurtland Opens in Willow Grove Mall

The Willow Grove Mall will hold the first location of Yogurtland in Pennsylvania.

Residents to Share Memories of Old Willow Grove Park

Mrs. Judy Parrish will be on hand to talk about the history of Willow Grove Park.

The Upper Moreland Historical Association will host Mrs. Judy Parrish who will display her collection of postcards and souvenirs as she talks about the fame of Willow Grove Park from its opening to its closing. Everyone is invited to bring their own favorite memory of the park for show and tell.  The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Upper Moreland Township Building, 117 Park Avenue, Willow Grove.  All Association meetings are free and open to the public.

Voyeur Banned from Willow Grove Mall

Judge says he needs a psych eval and is barred from the mall

A Philadelphia man was sentenced yesterday following an incident in which he was looking at a woman in a Macy’s fitting room in Willow Grove Park mall in October, according to a report in the Pottstown Mercury. According to the story, Tyrek Zyaire Henly, 21, of Philadelphia, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to one year of probation and 24 hours of community service after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of defiant trespassing and invasion of privacy in connection with the Oct. 8, 2011, incident at the Macy’s store at the Willow Grove Park mall in Abington. In the Oct. 8 incident, a woman said a man, who was later identified as Henly, was “crouched down and looking up” at her between the fitting room partition as she was …

An artifact in the Upper Moreland Historical Association’s archive room will be displayed here in this ongoing series.

Welcome back to another installment of “Upper Moreland Historical Association Presents.” The ongoing series will present a photo of an artifact showcased in the Upper Moreland Historical Association (UMHA) Archive Room, located in the Upper Moreland Township Building’s Lower Level. Displayed in this room is an historical patchwork of collected souvenirs, memorabilia and every-day items representing a once daily way of life in Upper Moreland.
