Ann Elkins, author of "The Arc of Eleanor Roosevelt’s Journey" will be the featured speaker at the April 9 meeting of the Women of Willow Grove. Elkins will discuss Roosevelt’s life of soul searching and self discovery. This detailed review of Eleanor’s journey will provide insight for other people’s lives, as she pushed the boundaries of what was then expected of women. Laura Kremp of Kremp Florist will accept the donation and explain the workings of the charity, which has aided residents in need since its inception. More than 40 local companies will be featured at the second annual Willow Grove Business Expo on May 8. The entire community is invited to attend and see the breadth and depth of Willow Grove businesses. The Expo, sponsored by the Women of Willow Grove, will showcase local businesses and give attendees an opportunity to learn about what the community has to offer. The Expo will be in the Community Rooms on the upper level of the Giant Super Store, 315 York Road, Willow Grove, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is by donation of only $5.00. Women of Wilow Grove hosted its first business expo on May 10, giving women an opportunity to showcase their business.
Women might not be finding jobs as quickly as men in the slow recovery from the “Great Recession,” but the Women of Willow Grove were out and open for business at the May 10 Women of Willow Grove Business Expo. “This is the first time we are doing a business expo,” said Judy Dyke, a charter member of Women of Willow Grove. The event was also a part of the Willow Grove 300 celebration, honoring the community’s tercentennial. Over 40 vendors set up shop in the community rooms of Giant supermarket on York Road. “It’s pretty diversified,” Dyke said of the businesses represented.
