I am currently a Biology graduate student and research assistant at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia. My research interests and educational aspirations include evolutionary biology, genetics, and ecology. I am also a GEOKids LINKS fellow. The GEOKids LINKS program's goal is science education within the Philadelphia School District. In addition to biology, I am also highly interested in theoretical physics, astronomy, philosophy, science fiction/fantasy, and history. Want more Practical Science?  Check out my Youtube channel. Greetings Upper Moreland and Willow Grove. My name is Philip Freda and am a freelancer for your Patch.com. My column, entitled "Practical Science" and its articles revolve around the many breakthroughs and important subjects in science.
