Upper Moreland Little League's junior level team beat out Pennridge Saturday to advance to the semifinals on Sunday.

The 17-6 Upper Moreland win was called by the mercy rule with Dan Pagano driving in the final run with a single in the sixth inning, according to coach Mike Searles.

The team pounded out 13 hits, batted around twice in the game, scoring seven runs in the first inning and eight runs in the fourth inning, Searles said.

"Other than Dan’s pitching, it's hard to pick out a star of the game," Searles said. "Of the 14 players on the team, 12 scored at least one run."

Upper Moreland is the No. 1 seed from the eastern bracket for Sunday's semifinals. The team will play a team from West Point at 3 p.m. If Upper Moreland wins that game, Searles said the team would play for the state championship at 6 p.m.
